How We Write and Check Our Guides
1. We start from official sources
Every fact comes from a source you can check: the company that makes the product (Microsoft, Apple, Google), U.S. government agencies (the Federal Trade Commission, the FBI, the Department of Justice, the National Institutes of Health), or published research. We list the sources at the end of each guide.
2. We check every step against the official instructions
Every step in a guide matches the instructions published by the company that makes the software, such as Microsoft or Apple. Those instructions are linked at the end of the guide, so you can check them yourself. If a step looks different on your computer, please tell us (see "Corrections" below).
3. Our pictures are drawings, not screenshots
The pictures of settings screens in our guides are drawings, and each one is labeled "Illustration, not a screenshot." We draw them on purpose: a drawing stays sharp when you make the page bigger, works in dark mode and prints clearly. A drawing also can't be mistaken for a real message from Microsoft or Apple, which matters on a site that teaches you to spot fake ones. Your screen may look a little different, but the names of the menus and buttons match the official instructions.
4. We keep guides up to date
Computers and scams change. Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We re-check our most-read guides regularly and whenever Microsoft, Apple or Google changes something important. We only change the date when we actually update the content.
5. How we use AI tools
We use AI tools to help research, write and draw our guides. AI never publishes anything on its own. Every fact is checked against the official sources listed at the end of the guide, and nothing goes live until our editor approves it.
6. Independence
Companies cannot pay for a good review or for a place in our recommendations. When we earn money from a link, we say so. Read how we make money.
7. What we don't do
We explain technology. We don't give medical, legal or financial advice. For those, please talk to your doctor, a lawyer or your bank.
8. Corrections
Found a mistake or a step that looks different on your computer? Please message us on WhatsApp at +1 (814) 323-6883. We fix confirmed errors quickly and note important corrections on the page.
